Coercive control, or coercive domination, is considered a form of domestic violence. It can also be seen as a form of captivity or deprivation of freedom.

Perpetrators isolate their victims socially, physically, and emotionally. They denigrate them daily, confuse and manipulate them, threaten and intimidate them, exert excessive control, instill fear, and actively suppress their victims' everyday desires and needs. Coercive control is a severe form of emotional and psychological abuse and can manifest as, or lead to, #parentalalienation, (cyber)#stalking, defamation and intimidation, child abduction, Munchausen by proxy syndrome, and severe forms of emotional and physical #neglect.
